political theatre.
Political theatre dances across our feeds now
Where dances used to tell stories
Now flames of failures sift through downtrodden speeches of wasted breathe
As systems used to lay bare the future of the world
Now, the future seems bleak
By comparison to the stars above
Our world might burn
If our leaders sit idle by
While we wish upon a star
If only they could dance
Instead of flinging mud across the aisle
Of conversation we used to be lively
Now the life is sucked out of our leaders
Coffins knock when they speak
And arrows lie bare because there is nothing
To encourage
To uplift
To dance to
Except a broken theatre
Records that are scratched and burned
Because the words are lost in a fog of disbelief
Political theatre
Shouldn’t be theatre
It should be speeches of inspiratory praise for the future
Where we see the stars and instead of throwing shit at each other
We work to see we can each hold something
Why can’t we just see.
It seems no one can see anymore
The eyes are glazed by fear of growth
Or
Maybe fear of betterment
Or
Maybe fear of failure
Decorates the minds
Instead of letting something happen
We act as if the world will fail in one moment
We act as if the country will fail if one person is elected
We act as if the savior isn’t coming to save us
And instead we act like the one chosen to lead is
Can we stop acting like the world will end
But can we also recognize the failure that has become
This system
Where political theatre
Is theatre
And nothing more
Politics became drama
And drama became politics
If only we could separate the two
Maybe we could work for good
But even in that
The savior is coming eventually
The battle has been won
By the one
So it does not matter if your candidate loses
Or if you think our country will fall into flames
Because it seems to me
Christians have dealth with failing countries for millenia
And yet still we stand here
Are we going to stop standing for the savior if the “savior” loses?
On whichever side you are on.
No
